Welcome to St Mary's Playgroup
St. Mary's Playgroup is a thriving, lively playgroup, established in 1975.
Founded in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, St Mary's believes that each child is an individual, with different needs and abilities.
We use the Highscope method of teaching, aiming to develop self-confident, independent children who can make decisions and solve problems on their own.
St Mary's aims to provide an environment where every child can develop emotional, intellectual, physical and social skills through structured play, art and music.
This we do without discrimination, where children regardless of race, culture, religion or means may play happily together.
Ofsted have judged us to be a strong provider and said the following about us :
"The effectiveness of the settings engagement with parents and carers is judged to be Outstanding. The playgroup has an exemplary partnership with parents and also with others involved in children's care."
"Children gain independence and become active, inquisitive learners. They are encouraged to problem-solve and show interest in numeracy."
"Children are secure and develop a sense of belonging to the setting. Children of all ages relate well to adults and their peers."
"The staff know the children in their care well and plan activities that build upon children's interests."
"As children prepare for transition from playgroup to school they are supported very well because the playgroup practitioners have excellent links with the schools and also encourage the teachers to visit the children in the setting."
