About St Mary's Playgroup

St Mary's Playgroup is a registered charity, which is owned and run as a non-profit making organisation, by a committee of parents. Parents are also asked to do several "duties" each term. Without this help the playgroup would legally have to close or employ extra staff at extra cost to the parents, in order to satisfy the ratio we have to have - 1 staff member to every 8 (ideally 6 or less) children.

Age

We welcome children from the age of 2 years 9 months to 5 years.

Time

We operate from Tuesday to Friday 9.00am – 12 noon.

Pre-School

From Easter each year, Monday mornings is for pre-school only and prepares them for full time education. A visit to their school and an introduction to the teacher allow children to develop an interest and enthusiasm for school before entry. Children must be attending their core playgroup sessions to be eligible for this.

Funding

We are registered for nursery education funding and offer 38 weeks of playgroup per year.

Criminal Records Bureau

All of our staff are fully checked for any criminal records by the police(CRB).
