Parent Committee
St Mary’s Playgroup is a charity and is owned and run as a non-profit organisation by a committee of parents.
The Committee is the trustee of the charity and is responsible for the operation of the Playgroup, from employing the staff, complying with relevant legislation and regulations, managing the Playgroup finances and fundraising.
Within the Committee there are the following defined roles and responsibilities:
Chair
The point of contact between the Playgroup and the external organizations (i.e. Ofsted, PATA, etc), ensures the policies and risk assessments are up-to-date and that the staff are receiving all the support they require.
Vice Chair
Manages the staff contracts, oversees St Mary’s Toddler Group and writes the monthly article for the local Tetbury Advertiser.
Admissions Secretary
Manages and allocates all requests for new places and additional sessions and organises each term’s new intake.
Fundraiser(s)
Plans, organises and host all of our varied fundraising activities.
Duty Rota Secretary
Prepares the termly parent duty rota schedule.
Minutes Secretary
Records the termly Committee meetings and distributes the minutes.
Treasurer
Works with our Financial Administrator, to ensure that the Playgroup spends its money correctly and meets all its financial obligations.
Parents Representative
Meets all new families on their first day at Playschool and represents the parents at the Committee meetings.
We meet formally with the Playgroup staff and Financial Administrator six times a year to discuss the running of the playgroup, its finances, upcoming events, etc. Our last meeting of the year is our AGM in July.
It is at this point that positions on the Committee become available and new members are appointed.
